This collection consist of a sketchbook by Margaret Stakely.
Biographical/Historical Note
Margaret E. Stakely was born in Tennessee on March 7, 1840, to William and Susan L. Stakely. In 1870 she worked as a painting teacher in Union Springs, Alabama, while living with her parents. Margaret never married or had children. By 1900 she worked as a secretary at the Southern Female College in Fulton, Georgia. She died on May 28, 1908, and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Union Springs, Alabama.
