This collection consists of Wiley L. Morgan's university materials, photographs, sketches, identification card, and a certificate. In the collection are his report cards from grade school and the University of Tennessee, college essays, thesis, photographs, Appalachian Expedition identification pass, and a certificate from the American Flag House and Betsy Ross Memorial Association.

Abstract

This collection consists of Wiley L. Morgan's university materials, photographs, sketches, identification card, and certificate.

Biographical/Historical Note

Wiley Morgan was born on November 24, 1874 to James Lafayette Morgan (1844-1914) and Lucinda R. (Jones) Morgan. He attended Knoxville public schools and the University of Tennessee (1890-1894). Morgan was the editor of the Knoxville Sentinel during the early 1900s. During his tenure, he covered such events as the tragic train wreck in New Market, Tennessee on September 4, 1904. He died on July 16, 1960 in Knoxville.

Acquisition Note

This collection was donated to Special Collections by Mrs. J.E. Douglass circa 1965.
