Biographical/Historical Note
Abraham Swaggerty, son of Fredrick Swaggerty, was born in 1755 in Cumberland, Pennysylvania. At the age of 20, he joined the American Revolution and was apart of the Pennsylvania Riflemen who were led by Colonel William Thompson. They marched to Boston, Massachusettes to join the First Pennsylvania Regiment. He was wounded in battle and taken prisoner to New York City until July 1776. After the war, he moved to North Carolina. He ended up doing quite a bit of surveying work in Tennessee. In 1822, Swaggerty died in Tennessee.
