Biographical/Historical Note

The area of Park City was developed in the 1890s as a streetcar suburb for Knoxville. The neighborhood was incorporated as a separate city in 1907. At the time, its population was 7,000 and its school, Park City High School, enrolled over 1,000 students, making it one of the largest schools in the state. Park City was annexed by Knoxville in 1917 and is presently the neighborhood of Parkridge, located in East Knoxville.

Park City High School graduate Edith Louise Ross was born on December 20, 1891 and died on December 16, 1988 at age 96. She graduated from Park City in 1910 and married William Napoleon Lynn in 1914, becoming Edith R. Lynn.
