Biographical/Historical Note
John Alexander "Alex" Wilson was born on April 20th, 1828 to Andrew and Elizabeth (McQueen) Wilson in Mountain City, Tennessee. Wilson studied surveying and philosophy, and taught at several schools in Johnson County. He married Sarah Elizabeth Stout (1843-1919) on March 31st, 1866. The couple had nine children: Edwin Clinton Wilson (1867-1941), Milton E. Wilson (1869-1943), Emma (Wilson) Robinson (1870-1961), Baxter Wilson (1874-1934), Roy David Wilson (1876-1966), Lola Wilson (1879, William Hamilton Wilson (1881-1885), Lula Wilson (1884-?) and Amanda (Wilson) Pierce (1888-1940). Wilson died on July 16th, 1901.
