Abstract
This collection consists of one copy of War Ration Book For (number 107643) issued to Lillie Evans of Servilla, Tennessee in approximately 1943.
Biographical/Historical Note
The American World War II rationing system was made possible by the Emergency Price Control Act, which was passed on January 30, 1942. Rationing proper began in spring of 1942 with War Ration Book 1 and evolved as problems were encountered. This evolution culminated with War Ration Book Four, first issued in 1943. Ration tokens were added to the original book later on, and this system was used until rationing was officially abolished in 1946.
Arrangement
Collection consists of a single folder.
Acquisition Note
The Special Collections Library purchased this collection in September of 2003.
