Conner Burnette Collection of Knox County, Tennessee Land Deeds

Abstract

This collection contains seven land deeds and six land grants from Knox County and, specifically, Knoxville, Tennessee. Two of the land grants are signed by governors of Tennessee, William Carroll in 1839 and William B. Campbell in 1852. Another land grant is signed by John Sevier. Two clerks, M. S. Patterson and R. A. Brown signed the Clerk and Master's Deeds.

Abstract This plat shows Williamsburgh, Tennessee (intended to be a suburb of Knoxville, Tennessee) as it was surveyed by John Williams in 1819. The area is bounded by Hugh White's land to the north, Water Street and Second Creek to the east, Market (or Main) Street to the south, and West Street to the west. William Henry Bail Bond

Abstract

This July 25, 1794 bail bond is for William Henry, written by Henry Breazeale, to be served by Sheriff Robert Houston of Knox County, TN. The bond is set at $1,000 for alleged trespassing and damages of $500 to James Stinson. The bond summons William Henry to appear at Knox Courthouse, verified by a signed note on the reverse by Robert Houston, dated August 2, 1794.
