Abstract This collection contains letters and memoranda written by President Joseph E. Johnson during 1998. Most of these documents constitute letters of thanks to donors and correspondence with such University officials as Senior Vice President Homer Fisher, Chancellor Bill Snyder, and Vice Chancellor John Peters regarding routine University activities like funding, media relations, and academic priorities. Abstract

This collection houses a typescript copy of the document establishing the Maude Powell Student's Aid Fund at the University of Tennessee. The fund was created using $5,000 from Maude Powell's estate by her mother, Sarah (Drake) Powell, and sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and James Allen Smith.
